Generative AI Policy

The Journal of New Business Ideas and Trends (JNBIT) recognizes the growing use of Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies in research, writing, data analysis, and scholarly communication. While AI tools can support the research and manuscript preparation process, authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, integrity, originality, and ethical standards of all submitted work.

This policy aims to ensure transparency, accountability, and responsible use of Generative AI in scholarly publishing.

Acceptable Use of Generative AI

Authors may use Generative AI tools to assist with:

  • Language editing and grammar improvement.
  • Improving readability and clarity of text.
  • Formatting and manuscript organization.
  • Literature discovery and research assistance.
  • Data visualization support.
  • Coding assistance and analytical workflows.

The use of AI must not compromise the scientific integrity, originality, or reliability of the research.

Author Responsibility

Authors remain solely responsible for:

  • The accuracy of all content contained in the manuscript.
  • Verification of facts, references, citations, and research findings.
  • Ensuring that AI-generated content does not contain fabricated, misleading, or inaccurate information.
  • Compliance with ethical, legal, and copyright requirements.
  • The originality of submitted work.

The use of AI tools does not transfer responsibility from the author to the technology provider.

Disclosure Requirements

Authors must disclose the use of Generative AI tools if such tools have made a substantial contribution to manuscript preparation.

Examples requiring disclosure include:

  • Generation of manuscript text.
  • Creation of tables or figures.
  • Data analysis assistance.
  • Content summarization.
  • Research interpretation support.

A disclosure statement should be included in the manuscript's acknowledgments section or another appropriate section.

Example Disclosure Statement

"The authors used a Generative AI tool to assist with language editing and manuscript preparation. All content was reviewed, verified, and approved by the authors, who assume full responsibility for the final manuscript."

AI Cannot Be an Author

Generative AI tools, chatbots, language models, or automated systems cannot be listed as authors or co-authors of a manuscript.

Authorship requires:

  • Intellectual contribution.
  • Accountability for the work.
  • Ability to approve the final manuscript.
  • Responsibility for responding to questions regarding the research.

Since AI systems cannot fulfill these responsibilities, they do not qualify for authorship.

Prohibited Uses of Generative AI

The following uses are not permitted:

  • Fabricating research data or results.
  • Generating false citations or references.
  • Creating fraudulent images, tables, or figures.
  • Manipulating research findings.
  • Producing misleading scientific conclusions.
  • Concealing substantial AI-generated content.
  • Circumventing ethical or peer-review requirements.

Any misuse of AI technologies may constitute research misconduct.

Confidentiality and Peer Review

Reviewers and editors must not upload confidential manuscripts, reviewer reports, or unpublished research data into public AI systems that may store, reuse, or disclose submitted content.

The confidentiality of the peer-review process must be maintained at all times.

Copyright and Intellectual Property

Authors are responsible for ensuring that AI-generated content does not infringe upon copyright, intellectual property rights, privacy rights, or other legal protections.

JNBIT reserves the right to request clarification regarding the source and creation of AI-assisted content when necessary.

Editorial Assessment

Editors may evaluate the extent and appropriateness of AI use during manuscript assessment. Where concerns arise regarding transparency, originality, authorship, or research integrity, additional information may be requested from the authors.

Failure to disclose significant use of Generative AI may result in:

  • Manuscript rejection.
  • Request for revision.
  • Retraction of a published article.
  • Other corrective actions in accordance with journal policies.

Compliance with Ethical Standards

The use of Generative AI does not exempt authors from compliance with:

  • Research and Publication Ethics.
  • Plagiarism Policy.
  • Copyright Policy.
  • Authorship Guidelines.
  • Data Integrity Standards.
  • Peer Review Policies.

All submissions remain subject to the same editorial and ethical standards regardless of whether AI tools were used.

Policy Updates

As AI technologies continue to evolve, JNBIT reserves the right to revise and update this policy to reflect emerging best practices, ethical considerations, and industry standards.

Commitment to Responsible AI Use

JNBIT supports the responsible, transparent, and ethical use of Generative AI technologies in scholarly communication. The journal encourages innovation while maintaining the highest standards of academic integrity, research quality, and publication ethics.
